Magnetic Island Race Week Sees Champagne Sailing

The 10th edition of the Magnetic Island Race Week has kick started on 1st September 2016 in North Queensland. Everyone taking part in the event was in a celebratory mood. We saw Pommery champagne flowing on Matt Pireet’s boat named ‘Champagne” and glasses were given to the people on the rail. Everyone was happy and they enjoy the scenery and the sip of the champagne.

The Ron Knott’s team on the Callista was enjoying a song sung by their crew member. The ladies on the local boat Soul Sister were seen having a lot of fun on their boat. Sailing Tops Isle Of Wight Sports

If you thought that sailing opportunities are limited for youngsters, you need to hear Leigh McMillan talk about the sport and the opportunities that are coming up today. Being the star and winner of Isle of Wight America’s cup star, he is hailed as a winner and proponent in Island sailing.

Junior Sail Program of Michigan City Yacht Club

Washington Park Marina’s Michigan City Yacht Club is again putting up the Michigan City Yacht Club Junior Sail Program. The event is for children ages 8 and older. It is planned to teach the skills required to race and sail. Classes are made-to-measure to the age as well as ability of each student stressing the fun of sailing.

New sailors are advocated to be comfortable on the water and under sail. Advanced (as well as Intermediates) students come to know the finer points of boat handling as well as racing maneuver. The event encourages young people to stay in the game of sailing following their dinghy days.

Students are taught in Opti’s, international youth training as well as one design race boat. Students with their very own yacht can be instructed in that. Advanced students would also get instruction on Club Rigged 420s. The sailing program offers 6 separate morning as well as afternoon sessions beginning on 14th June, 28th June, and 19th July. The classes will happen regularly from Tuesday through Friday, except 4th of July. Classes will start from 9 am. to noon and then 1 pm to 4 pm.
